I can unreservedly recommend Conneely Custom Built Kitchens, who transformed my living space this summer.
My original idea for injecting new life into my tired kitchen had been to strip the veneers off the cabinets and paint them myself. I’m so glad now that I decided to invest in a proper upgrade. I visited other kitchen shops in the beginning to see what was out there, but my instinct told me that I should go with Conneely’s. I liked the fact that they offered the possibility to remodel or “edit” an existing kitchen, putting new fronts on cabinets that were there already but making some adjustments to improve functionality. What I saw in the showrooms, indeed the whole atmosphere there, impressed me from the start. The way that I was welcomed and made to feel valued as a potential customer, provided with lots of ideas but never pressurised to buy, helped to convince me that Conneely’s would be the right choice: it was very apparent that this was an exceptionally professional and experienced company that does top-class work and wants its customers to be 100% satisfied.
Sean and Maureen always gave sound advice on both practicalities and aesthetics, and I had many impromptu meetings with Maureen who was infinitely patient with my indecisiveness but tactfully prevented me making what would have been a few bad decisions – one example being the choice of colours. On the day of the final meeting, when I thought I had chosen my colour scheme after months of deliberating, she simply put a colour combination I hadn’t considered in front of me, and it turned out to be just what was right for me. She had clearly been observing my personal taste in colours based on what I wear! Maureen is a true expert when it comes to kitchen design, and you get the feeling that she takes as much interest and pride in the finished product for each customer as if it were for her own home. She is also practical, and will steer you towards the wisest use of your budget with an emphasis on quality and functionality without splashing out on something that isn’t necessary.
Sean was also extremely pleasant to deal with: he produced diagrams that helped me visualise how everything would look, gave excellent guidance, and accommodated a last-minute request that resulted in one of my favourite features, the long drawers (instead of double doors) on one of the lower cabinets so that I can now easily access dishes and utensils where previously I’d had to do a lot of bending and groping around at the back of cupboards.
The kitchen is beautiful, and has changed from being a room that depressed me into a space where I feel uplifted. As for the utility room, the transformation has been just as magical. In the past, merely opening the door and viewing the chaos inside used to make me feel stressed: now it’s an oasis of calm and order.
I also had some floating shelves installed in the sitting room, and am delighted with them too.
The team, led by Alan, who came to install everything, were punctual, friendly and accommodating, and the workmanship throughout is impeccable; everything is fitted with precision (and I’m someone who would notice any imperfections).
